Home › Retreats › Somatic Dance & Nervous-System Reset: A Private Women's Wellness Week in the Alpujarras
Andalusia · 7 days · From EUR 1479
The days follow a loose shape rather than a strict schedule. You arrive from 1:00 pm and settle in with a check-in session, where Pingel gets a read on your nervous system and what you're hoping to shift. From then on, most days hold two one-on-one sessions — one in the morning, one later — with Wednesday kept clear as a rest day and the day you head out on the longer excursions.
Sessions move between several modalities depending on what your body is ready for. Nia 'Move to Heal' is an hour of sensory, free-flowing movement that blends yoga, dance, martial arts and somatic arts. Feldenkrais work is slower and more precise — small, curious movements that unpick habitual holding patterns. Organic Intelligence® coaching is the quiet, talk-and-sense side, tuning into the signals your body is already sending. Embodied creativity sessions bring in expressive dance, voice, active imagery and somatic constellations. Pingel ties it all together with MAMA: mapping your body in the present, anchoring safely in it, moving from its own wisdom, and aligning toward vitality and self-trust.
What makes this different from a standard movement retreat is that it's genuinely one-to-one and women-only. There's no group to perform for and no 'level' to match — every practice is adapted to you, which is why Pingel asks for a short call before you book to check it's the right fit. For women who notice themselves bracing before they speak, over-giving, or living slightly 'on the brakes', that private attention is the whole point.
The setting does a lot of the work too. The Alpujarra is old Moorish country — centuries-old irrigation channels, medieval donkey trails, pure spring water and wild healing herbs. Lanjarón, a friendly spa village, is within walking distance; Órgiva and its market are close by; the nearest beaches are a 30-minute drive. The sanctuary itself has a large wooden outdoor dance floor facing the pine forest and mountains, an indoor studio, a pool nestled in the olive grove, and plenty of quiet garden nooks to disappear into.
Pingel Braat leads the week herself. She comes from a background in contemporary dance and fine arts and has spent years weaving Nia, Feldenkrais, Organic Intelligence® coaching, somatic constellations, embodied creativity and Chakradance into one playful approach to nervous-system reorganisation. Guests tend to describe feeling warmly welcomed and genuinely seen, and surprised by how much shifts through simple, unforced movement rather than hard effort.
