Sound Healing and Yoga Wellness Retreat in the Himalayan Foothills

Sound Healing and Yoga Wellness Retreat in the Himalayan Foothills

India · 3 days · From USD 258

The retreat is hosted by Om Yoga Ashram, a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Rashpal Yogi, set in a quiet area near Dal Lake, surrounded by deodar trees. The teaching style combines traditional yogic knowledge with modern methods, and the ashram is registered under the Indian government. The daily program is consistent and simple: mornings begin with herbal tea at 6:00 am, followed by pranayama, meditation, and a yoga asana session. After breakfast and lunch, there's more yoga at 4:00 pm, meditation at 5:30 pm, and an evening prayer at 6:30 pm. The sound healing class is arranged individually with the teacher, so you can go deeper into the practice or just experience it once.

What makes this retreat different is the sound healing element. The teachers use authentic instruments like Tibetan singing bowls and gongs to work on chakra and energy healing, and the course covers foundations of sound healing, healing through the voice, breathwork, and practical techniques for stress, anxiety, and sleep. You don't need any experience—the sessions are tailored to your level. The ashram also emphasizes a simple yogic lifestyle: no alcohol, smoking, or drugs, and all meals are fresh, organic, and satvik, which means no meat, egg, garlic, or onion. This creates a calm, disciplined environment that supports the inner work.

The location has its own pull. McLeod Ganj is home to the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile, so there's a strong Buddhist influence. You're close to the Tsuglagkhang Complex, Bhagsu Waterfall, and the starting point for the Triund trek. The ashram itself is peaceful and intimate, with a small group of between one and fifteen participants, so you get personal attention from the teachers. Reeta, an accomplished teacher of yoga mantras, music, and Hindi, leads classes that are fun and informal, and she can adapt to beginners and advanced students alike. Rashpal has been practicing yoga and meditation since 2001 and also runs teacher training courses in Cape Town, South Africa.
