Home › Retreats › Spain Fitness Holiday: Beachfront Villa Bootcamp with Pool and Ensuite Rooms
Spain · 8 days
James Evans has built this week around the same training system he uses at his UK boot camps, but pointed at a holiday instead of a transformation programme. The workouts are the popular ones from his regular timetable: HIIT and Tabata intervals, boxing, strength and conditioning, rope and kettlebell work, PHA training, runs, swims, AMRAPs and team challenges. Sessions are run outdoors at the villa's training area and on the beach, which means you're working with kettlebells, ropes and bodyweight rather than a full commercial gym floor.
The afternoons are where this week separates itself from a standard fitness camp. Instead of a second hard session, you head out to kayak, snorkel, paddleboard or surf, hike the coast, play beach and pool games, or visit a waterpark. Yoga, stretching and mobility sessions are built into most afternoons to keep you moving well across the week. Everything is adjusted to the group's abilities, and there's a substitute activity for anyone who doesn't want to do a particular thing — including swimming, which the team will teach from scratch if you can't swim.
The villa itself is beachfront, just outside Reus, with a private pool, a plunge pool, a jacuzzi, sun beds and a dedicated training area. Rooms are private ensuite doubles or twins, and you can take one as sole occupancy or share with one other person. If you book a shared room and aren't travelling with someone you know, you'll be given your own bed in a twin room and paired with someone of the same sex.
Food is Spanish-inspired and cooked on site by the team, with breakfast, lunch and dinner included daily. They cater for all dietary and religious requirements — you fill in a form after booking so they can plan around yours. Alcohol isn't provided for insurance reasons, but you're free to buy your own and drink in the evening, as long as you keep it moderate and stay off it during the day. Massages are also not included in the price.
Getting there is straightforward: the nearest airport is Reus, about 30km away, and complimentary pick-up and drop-off are provided for flights arriving on the start day and departing on the finish day. Flights from the UK typically run £80–£200 return depending on when you book, and the team will help you find routes if you're travelling from further afield. Compared with James's UK boot camp, this week is intentionally less mentally and physically demanding overall — clients who have done both say the individual workouts are similar in intensity, but the Spain programme balances training with adventure and recovery.
