Wadi Rum · 8 days · From USD 2199
The retreat begins in Amman, where you'll meet the group (or start exploring on your own if you arrive early) before heading south to the desert. Your base for five nights is the Soul Tribe Eco-Camp, situated in the heart of the Wadi Rum UNESCO site. This isn't a two-minute shop-and-drop camp; it's a thoughtful, hand-built settlement with a lounge tent, a yoga shala, and a team of Bedouin hosts who have lived in the area for generations. The mornings start with yoga and meditation—aim to join the session about an hour after sunrise, when the desert light is still soft and the air is cool.
The real 'work' of the retreat happens in the workshops, which are woven into the days rather than crammed into one block. Laura leads breathwork sessions (Rebirth Breathwork is her specialty), past-life regressions that take you deep into your own subconscious, and sound healing with singing bowls. There's also the option for private sessions—angel reiki is a favorite—and guided meditations that use the desert's profound quiet as a backdrop. None of it is mandatory; if you'd rather spend an afternoon napping in your tent or wandering the dunes, that's entirely up to you.
The excursion days break up the inner focus with outward exploration. Petra, the ancient Nabataean city carved into pink cliffs, gets a full day—you'll arrive early to beat the crowds and walk through the Siq as the sun hits the Treasury. The Dead Sea day is more leisurely: you float in the impossibly salty water, slather yourself in mineral mud, and stay in a proper resort hotel for the night. In between, there's a 4x4 sunset tour through the desert and a day at Aqaba on the Red Sea, where you can swim or snorkel in the clear water.
Throughout, Laura is your constant presence—she's warm, direct, and clearly experienced in holding space for people going through emotional or spiritual shifts. Reviews mention laughter, tears, and a sense of being genuinely cared for, which speaks to the effort she puts into getting to know each guest. The retreat is open to all levels: beginners are as welcome as seasoned practitioners, and the only requirement is an open mind and a willingness to try something new.
