Home › Retreats › Surf and Yoga Camp in Fuerteventura with Daily Coaching
Canary Islands · 8 days · From EUR 375
Planet Surf Camps run their own surf houses and schools rather than subcontracting, and this Fuerteventura spot is one of their year-round bases. The package is seven nights in the surf house or apartments, five days of surf lessons, daily breakfast and dinner, beach transfers, and use of surfboards and wetsuits for the duration. Yoga classes are included as part of the week — usually five sessions.
A typical day starts with breakfast at the house, then a transfer to whichever beach has the best conditions. Lessons are split by ability, so beginners stay in the whitewash with an instructor while improvers head further out. You're in the water for a couple of hours, then back to the house for lunch (not included, but there are kitchens and plenty of cheap local spots nearby). Afternoons are free: the skatepark is a short walk away, there's shopping and restaurants close by, and the beach is right there if you want more water time. Yoga runs late afternoon, then dinner is served at the house.
What sets this apart from a generic surf camp is the instructor quality — every teacher holds FES, DWV, ISA, BSA or FCS certification plus lifeguard training, and several have competed or been on national teams. Equipment is kept on-site so you're not renting separately, and the school is licensed, which matters for insurance and safety. The house itself is a straightforward, sociable setup rather than a resort — shared rooms and apartments, communal meals, and a mix of nationalities.
Fuerteventura itself is one of the Canary Islands, off the coast of Morocco. It's windy, which keeps the surf consistent and makes it a draw for windsurfers and kitesurfers too. The camp's location puts you near the ocean but also near town, so you can walk to dinner or a bar in the evening rather than relying on a shuttle. Water temperatures sit around 19–22°C in summer and a bit cooler in winter, so a wetsuit is standard.
This is a good fit if you want to actually learn to surf rather than just tick it off — five lessons in a week gives you enough time to get standing and riding, not just paddling. It's also fine if you're travelling alone, since the communal meals and shared house make it easy to meet people. If you want a luxury resort with a spa and infinity pool, this isn't that.
