Portugal · 7 days · From USD 890
Days start early because the wind is lighter in the morning. You'll have breakfast at the house around 8, then head to the beach for a surf session of roughly two hours with the instructors. Boards and wetsuits are provided, and the lessons are split by ability — complete beginners stay in the whitewater near the shore, while intermediate surfers paddle out to the unbroken waves with a coach.
After lunch back at the house, afternoons are free. Some people go back in the water on their own with a rented board, some walk the coastal path towards Ribeira d'Ilhas, and some just sleep. Around 5 or 6pm there's a yoga class, usually vinyasa, held either in the garden or in a studio in town, aimed at loosening up shoulders and hips after paddling.
Dinner is cooked at the house most nights — typically fish or a vegetarian dish, with wine. Twice during the week the group eats out in Ericeira, usually at a seafood restaurant near the harbour. One day midweek is left completely free of organised activities so people can visit Lisbon, Sintra, or just have a lie-in.
What separates this from a standard surf camp is the yoga and the fact that meals and transfers are bundled in, so you're not constantly reaching for your wallet. It's also not a party week — there's no organised nightlife, and people tend to be in bed by 11.
The instructors are local surfers who've been teaching in Ericeira for years, most of them with ISA or FPS (Portuguese Surfing Federation) qualifications. The yoga teacher changes season to season, but all are registered with Yoga Alliance.
