Surf Camp on the Stadlandet Peninsula: 3- and 6-Night Stays at Hoddevik Surf House

Days at Hoddevik follow the surf and the weather. A two-hour lesson is the anchor of a camp day, and the rest of the time you are in the water with the house's equipment, on a skateboard, or walking the mountains around the bay. The beach is over a kilometre of white sand, and the bay is sheltered enough that the house has built its programme around it since surfing here depends on the conditions on the day.

The 3-night camp runs either Monday to Thursday or Thursday to Sunday, with two lessons of about two hours each. The 6-night camp runs Monday to Sunday with four lessons. Both include accommodation in the surf house, use of surf equipment for the entire stay, skateboards, and the shared kitchen, bathrooms, sanitary facilities, outdoor area and living room.

Play and Stay is the same 3-night or 6-night structure without the lessons: accommodation plus surf equipment and skateboards for the whole stay. Stay Only drops the equipment as well and covers just the accommodation and shared facilities. All three packages use the same Monday–Thursday, Thursday–Sunday or Monday–Sunday pattern.

Drop-in lessons are open to anyone, whether or not you are staying at the house. The house teaches beginners and advanced surfers, and you can book a private lesson, a group lesson or a family lesson. That makes it workable for a mixed-ability group where one person has surfed for years and another has never stood up.

A short drive away at Ervik, the Ervik Surf Shop has been running since 2014. It stocks surfboards, wetsuits, clothing and souvenirs, serves coffee, and rents out surf equipment, SUP boards, snorkels and dive masks. You can also book a private surf lesson there with an experienced instructor, and the staff give tips on surfing and on what to do around Stadlandet.
