Surf Siargao: Sleep-Eat-Surf at Kermit

Philippines · 3 days · From EUR 375

Days here revolve around the tide and the forecast. Your guide picks the break each morning based on your ability and what the swell is doing — Cloud 9 if you're ready for it, Jacking Horse or Tuason Point if you're not — and you head out by motorbike. Two sessions a day is the standard, so you'll typically surf in the morning, eat, rest through the midday heat, and go back out in the afternoon. Coaching covers paddling, pop-up technique, wave priority, surf etiquette and water safety, with the ratio kept at 1:1 so feedback is specific to you.

What separates this from a standard surf camp is the guiding. Rather than a fixed daily lesson slot at one beach, the team moves you around the island to wherever the conditions suit you that day, and the package includes a motorbike for the duration so you're not stuck waiting on shuttles. It also means the programme is genuinely adjustable: if you're progressing faster than expected, you get moved to more challenging breaks; if you're struggling with one part of your take-off, that's what the next session works on.

Accommodation is a Deluxe Room at The Henry Resort at Kermit Siargao, which comes with breakfast and pool access. The resort sits in General Luna, the main town on Siargao's east coast, a short ride from the well-known breaks and within walking distance of restaurants and bars. Airport transfers from Sayak Airport (or the harbour, if you're arriving by boat) are included in the package.

The non-surf extras are simple but useful: 10% off anything in the Kermit shop, one complimentary pizza per person, and a pick of either a happy hour drink per night, two beers per night, or a Kermit rash guard. If you want surf lessons without lodging, individual lessons (PHP 1,600 per session) and a daily surf package (PHP 3,000 per person, two sessions a day) are bookable separately — but the Sleep-Eat-Surf package is the one that bundles room, transfers, guiding, equipment and motorbike together.

Season matters here. September to March is when Siargao's surf is at its best, with the biggest and most consistent swell arriving between November and February. Outside that window conditions are smaller and more variable, and the team will adjust which breaks they take you to accordingly.
