Brittany · 6 days
A typical day starts at the Magnet Surf office at 18 Boulevard de Pralognan la Vanoise in Crozon. You introduce yourself over coffee and talk about what you want from the lessons. Guillaume checks the day's weather, picks the spot that suits your level, and the group carpools out — the page describes it as a half-day surf trip. At the beach car park you get kitted out, then walk in through dune areas and village paths to the sand.
Each session opens with a warm-up that might be yoga, games or bodysurfing. Beginners stay in the white water to learn the take-off safely. Experienced surfers go out under Guillaume's eye. Afterwards you head back to the school for a debrief over cookies from Face au Bowl, and photos and video from the lesson can be downloaded free from the school's website.
The spot choice is what makes this different from a single-beach surf camp. La Palue, five minutes from Morgat, is a wild beachbreak with translucent blue water and a view stretching from Pointe du Raz to Pointe de Saint Mathieu via the Tas de Pois at Pointe de Pen Hir — it's for seasoned surfers, or beginners when the waves are small, and there are strong currents from baïnes to watch for. Kersiguénou and Goulien are more sheltered, with long waves breaking gently on sand, good for beginners and for working on the hang-five; there's no baïne but there are high-tide currents, rocks and cliffs. Kerloch' is sheltered from northerly winds and big swells, best at low tide, with gentle waves at the foot of big cliffs that suit longboards, Mini-Malibus, mid-lengths and retro-fish.
Guillaume is the instructor named throughout the page. He runs the lessons, drives the group to the spots, films sessions and leads the expeditions to discover regional dishes and Breton culture. The page doesn't list his certifications or how long he has taught.
The setting is the Armorique Regional Park and the Iroise Marine Park. You might surf with dolphins or seals, and the page notes the area is good for birdwatching. Morgat's fishing port has turquoise water, and the surrounding villages — Camaret, Roscanvel, Lanvéoc, Telgruc, Landévennec — are worth an afternoon each. The GR 34 long-distance path between Morgat and Cap de la Chèvre is described as one of the most beautiful hikes in Europe.
