Home › Retreats › Surf & Yoga Escape in Uluwatu, Bali — Dreamsea Surf Camp
Indonesia · 7 days · From EUR 400
Days at Dreamsea Bali Uluwatu start with breakfast at the camp restaurant, looking out over the ocean. Surf sessions run in the morning and again in the afternoon, split by ability so beginners get the shallow, forgiving waves and more advanced surfers get taken to the better breaks nearby. Instructors are local Balinese surfers who've grown up on these waves — Mike, a guest from the U.S., wrote that instructors Kadek and Made were "so observant, caring and competent" that he felt safe in the water even as a complete novice surrounded by more advanced surfers. Boards and rash guards are provided; you don't need to bring your own.
When you're not surfing, there's yoga, usually in the morning or late afternoon. The camp runs yoga classes as part of the schedule, and you can choose a package that's surf-only, yoga-only, or both. Between sessions, most people walk down to the beach, swim, read in the shade, or head into Uluwatu town on a scooter — the Uluwatu Temple and its famous cliffside sunset is about a 15-minute ride away, and there are dozens of warungs and beach clubs along the coast.
The accommodation is a big part of why people pick this place. The camp is built in a sustainable style using bamboo, wood, and natural fabrics, with glamping tents that can be packed up at the end of the season without leaving a mark. Rooms vary — some are simple doubles, some have panoramic ocean views from the upper corners of the property, and the glamping area is a step up in comfort from a standard tent. One guest, Anna, said she "loved our time in the GLAMPING area" and would "come back for sure."
Evenings are communal. Dinner is served at the restaurant, where the kitchen turns out far more than the usual surf-camp fare — guests repeatedly mention the variety and quality of the food. After dinner, people hang out on the terrace, play cards, chat, or head to bed early because the surf's up again in the morning. The vibe is social but not a party scene.
What sets this apart from other surf camps in Bali is the combination of location and staff. You're on the Bukit, which puts you close to some of Bali's best waves — Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Bingin, and Balangan are all within a short drive. And the reviews consistently single out the same thing: the people. From the surf instructors to the reception staff to the kitchen crew, guests describe a level of attentiveness that's unusual at this price point. As Karen put it after a week at a sister camp, "the staff really went above & beyond to make sure we had a great time."
