Surf & Yoga Retreat in Nicaragua: Catch Waves and Find Your Flow

Nicaragua · 7 days · From EUR 2000

A typical day starts early while the wind is still offshore. You'll head to the beach with your group and your instructor, warm up on the sand, and get into the water for a surf session matched roughly to your level. Beginners work on paddling, popping up and reading whitewater; intermediates and advanced surfers get coaching on turns, positioning and wave selection. Instructors are in the water with you, calling you into waves and giving feedback between sets.

After the session you come back for a proper breakfast, then there's a second breakfast later in the morning before the yoga class. The studio sessions are restorative rather than intense: long holds, breath work, and stretching aimed at the muscles you've just spent hours using. Afternoons are usually free for another surf, a nap, reading, or exploring the area.

Surf with Amigas has been running women's surf and yoga camps for years and operates at multiple breaks in Nicaragua. That means the programme can shift to whichever beach is working best on a given day, rather than being locked to one spot. It also means the coaching is dialled in for mixed-ability groups, with instructors who are used to teaching adults who've never stood on a board alongside people who've been surfing for years.

The retreat suits people travelling solo. Most guests book alone and end up surfing and eating with the same group all week, and the women-only setup tends to make the lineup less intimidating for first-timers. Couples and friends book too, but the atmosphere is built around a group of women learning together.

Yoga classes are held in a dedicated studio, and the focus stays on recovery and mobility rather than anything acrobatic. If you've never done yoga, you'll be fine; if you practise regularly, you'll still get something out of it after a long surf. The week is structured so that the surfing is the main event and everything else supports it: food, sleep, stretching, repeat.
