Turkish Riviera Yoga Escape: Pomegranate Groves, Turtle Beaches & Daily Practice in Dalyan

Turkey · 7 days · From USD 690

Classes run twice a day for six of the seven days — around 90 minutes before breakfast and an hour in the early evening, so roughly ten sessions across the week. Mornings are the longer practice; evenings tend to be slower, often with meditation and readings. Teachers adapt to mixed abilities and to anyone managing an injury — reviewers mention headstands being worked on and, elsewhere, a back injury being accommodated without anyone feeling sidelined. Yoga mats and equipment are provided, so you don't need to pack any.

What sets this apart from a bigger yoga resort is the scale. Sixteen rooms, a handful of staff, and an owner (Aygul) who guests consistently describe as treating people like family rather than customers. Rooms sit around a lawn and garden with hammocks, a swing chair and a treehouse used for both quiet reading and evening meditation. The pool has a small waterfall, and the bar beside it serves snacks and drinks through the day. Because the hotel is between the village and the beach, you can walk or take a dolmus to Dalyan in one direction or to the sand in the other.

The food is a running theme in guest feedback — a large Turkish breakfast after morning class (eggs, cheeses, olives, breads, fruit, vegetables), then dinner on five evenings including arrival night. It's vegetarian by default, and much of the produce comes from the hotel's vegetable field. Fish can be ordered at breakfast for an extra charge paid directly to the hotel, with the price depending on what the fishmonger has that day. Two evenings are left free so you can eat in Dalyan, which has plenty of small restaurants.

Between classes and meals you can take the 10-minute dolmus (it stops outside the hotel every half hour) to Iztuzu beach, a long sweep of sand inside a national park with no buildings other than a café at each end — the strict access rules protect the loggerhead turtles that nest there. Riverboats from the village reach the same beach in about 15 minutes. Other days out include the Twelve Island boat trip, the mud baths and hot springs, the old hamam, the Saturday market in Dalyan, the ruins of Kaunos across the river, and the abandoned village of Kayaköy further along the coast.

The teaching changes week to week and is the main reason people return. Recent teachers have included Jude Medhurst, Andrea Teja, Lucy Aldridge, Charlotte Watts, Leo Taylor, Jane Pollard, Diane Davis, Rachel Graham (yoga, Pilates and dance), Bev Fox, Shamita Ray and Anne Lawless, covering styles from Iyengar and Ashtanga to Kundalini and a blended yoga-Pilates-dance week. Each runs their own programme within the twice-daily structure — some lean into alignment and technique, others into meditation and breathwork, others into flowing sequences — so it's worth choosing your week by teacher if you have a preference.
