A stay here is not a scheduled retreat with 07:00 yoga and a set timetable. You book a room or suite, and you shape the days yourself around the GesundKunft® SPA and the surrounding countryside. The spa spreads across 4,400 m² indoors and out, with medical fitness, wellness and beauty services, generous sauna and water landscapes, and a number of wellness places kept exclusively for guests staying in the house.

The rooms are built for the view. Expansive windows or terraces face the Black Forest landscape and the Rhine plain, and the beds are made by traditional handicraft using high-quality natural materials. Bathrooms are designed as a space to slow down, with the details finished to a homey rather than clinical standard.

Eating is central. Chef de Cuisine Niels Möller leads the kitchen, using fresh, high-quality regional ingredients, with an emphasis on flavour and texture and on the pleasure of conscious eating. The LUISE restaurant also serves outside guests, so the dining room is a proper destination restaurant as well as the hotel's own.

Outside the spa, the hotel is a starting point for the border triangle. Biking, golf, hiking, climbing, swimming and skiing are all on the doorstep, along with cultural sights and easy city strolls — Freiburg is just down the road. The hotel also has event space for up to 120 people, so it hosts celebrations and company gatherings alongside leisure stays.

One practical note: there are currently road closures from Au to Horben, and the hotel asks guests to approach via Günterstal to Horben instead.
