Home › Retreats › Wellness Escape: 15-Day Yoga & Meditation Retreat in the Himalayas
India · 15 days · From USD 1898
The retreat takes place at Udechee Huts, a family-run property in the Kangra Valley of Himachal Pradesh. The owners live on site and take care of guests personally—guests like Laura and Charlotte, who travelled with host KV Singh and called it 'the most amazing experience of my life.' Singh has been a tourism planner since 1976 and knows the region deeply; he's a wildlife enthusiast, horseman, and gourmet chef, and he and his wife run the property with genuine warmth.
Each day follows a gentle rhythm: yoga and meditation from 7:00 to 8:30 am, breakfast, then excursions or sightseeing until lunch. Afternoons are for rest and reading, and evenings bring visits to temples, Ayurvedic massages, live folk music, or food demonstrations. On the 14th night there's a farewell BBQ dinner with unlimited drinks, and a gift is presented to you before you leave.
Beyond the daily program, there's plenty to see. The property is close to Dal Lake (1.4 km away), and the township of Mcleodganj—where the Dalai Lama's temporary headquarters sits—is about 5 km off. You can visit Buddhist monasteries, temples, museums, and the Kangra Fort, or arrange trekking trips to Triund and other passes in the western Himalayas.
The retreat is run by KV Singh, a descendant of the royal family of Khandela, and his wife, a social entrepreneur. They're known for their hospitality—guests are 'personally looked after,' and the hosts handle every aspect of the trip, from airport transfers to excursions. This is a small, personal retreat, not a big resort operation.
