Home › Retreats › Wellness Escape in Hampi: 4-Day Yoga and Nature Retreat in India
India · 4 days · From USD 320
Yogalayah is a newly opened retreat center run by Neha Goradia and Rajiv, a couple who left behind careers in law and tech to pursue a simpler life in Hampi's sacred landscape. The retreat is set on the island side of the river, away from the tourist crowds, yet close enough to explore the ruins and temples of the UNESCO World Heritage site. A short coracle or ferry ride from the main bazaar, the center feels remote but is easy to reach for anyone willing to cross the water. The accommodation consists of small, eco-friendly bungalows and rooms built with woven bamboo and thatched ceilings, offering a back-to-nature experience without sacrificing comfort. The heart of Yogalayah is its 1600-square-foot open-air yoga shala, where classes happen with only the sound of birds and breeze. Each day begins with an optional Agni Homa fire ritual, followed by dynamic yoga, and later, guests can try ice baths, mud therapy, sound healing, or simply nap. The hosts are described by guests as warm and welcoming, and they take time to explain the practices to beginners and seasoned yogis alike. The food is pure vegetarian, sattvic, and home-cooked in the South Indian style, using local, seasonal produce. With only a handful of rooms, the retreat maintains a cozy, family-like atmosphere where solo travelers and couples easily connect over shared meals and quiet evenings.
