The retreat takes place in a Grade II listed building that dates back to 1535, with oak beams, wood-paneling, and open fireplaces in the common areas. The Victorian part of the building has high ceilings and large windows, while the Coach House annex holds bedrooms only. The setting is rural—fields and hills surround the property, and a small woodland sits on site. You are five miles from the village of Caersws, which is on the main train line from Birmingham, so it feels remote but is actually reachable by public transport from the UK's major airports.
The daily routine includes at least one 90-minute yoga class every morning, and more 60-minute classes later in the day. Styles vary between Hatha, Yin, Restorative, and Hatha flow, with at least one all-level class daily, plus some intermediate options with more challenging sequences. Lisa, one of the owners, teaches yoga using mindfulness to bring you into the present moment. She trained with the Mindful Yoga Academy in Alicante and with Sarah Powers in Insight Yoga, and she is also qualified in therapeutic yoga. Donna, the other owner, leads the life-makeover workshops, drawing on years of experience running retreats in Spain.
Life-makeover workshops happen at least twice a week and are a central part of the retreat. These are small-group sessions where you explore your mindset, talk through habits, and leave with practical tools you can use at home. There are also guided walks every day, up to 2.5 hours, with varying difficulty, so you can choose between a gentle stroll and a longer hike over the hills. Meditation, pilates, rebounding, and creativity classes fill out the rest of the program.
Meals are plant-based, homemade, and served buffet-style, with a cooking demo and a juice demo each week. You can choose to eat or juice for every meal, and the juicing is included in the price. The food uses local seasonal produce, lots of vegetables, wholegrains, beans, pulses, and nuts, with a wide range of flavors from different world cuisines. Dinners are sometimes served family-style around communal tables. You can eat in the dining room, the lounge, or outside in the garden when the weather cooperates.
The retreat center is a home-from-home, not a boot camp. The owners deliberately keep the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming, and they welcome solo travelers, couples, friends, and groups. The price covers everything except extras like airport transfers, flights, travel insurance, and spa treatments, which you can book on-site if you want them.
