Wellness Escape Through Rajasthan: Yoga, Meditation & Heritage

India · 11 days · From USD 1811

Each day starts with yoga and meditation, usually at dawn, before breakfast and a day of exploration. In Jaipur, that means touring Amer Fort, the Palace of Winds, Jantar Mantar, and the City Palace. You'll also take day trips to the 14th-century stepwell at Abhaneri, lunch at hilltop Fort Madhogarh, and visit Samod's fresco-painted palace. Evenings often include Ayurvedic massage, and at Fort Mundota you'll have dinner with the owner, a polo player and horse breeder.

The trip then moves to Thanagazi-Alwar, where you stay at the Gandhava Retreat, a 13-acre property with just six cottages, run by a well-known tiger expert and his wife, a scholar of Buddhist literature. Here you'll take a jeep safari into Sariska Tiger Sanctuary to spot leopards and deer, visit thousand-year-old temples, and take a boat ride on Lake Silisaid. You'll also have the chance to join the wife in the kitchen and learn some real Indian cooking.

Next is Castle Kalwar, where the owners welcome you personally. You'll visit a local school, walk through villages, and enjoy barbecue dinners by the pool. The final heritage stop is Mandawa, the heart of Shekhawati, known for its painted havelis. You'll spend two nights at Castle Mandawa, exploring the open-air art gallery of the town's mansions and the Harlalka Well. The tour concludes at Alsisar Mahal, a palace with cenotaphs and museums, before a final drive back to Jaipur for your flight.

K V Singh orchestrates the entire journey. He's a wildlife enthusiast, horseman, mountaineer, and gourmet chef who has been in tourism since 1976. His wife is a social entrepreneur who leads study tours, and together they've created an itinerary that feels personal and well-paced, with plenty of moments to simply sit and take in the landscape.
