Home › Retreats › Wellness Escape with Horseback Riding, Spa & Yoga in Bali
Indonesia · 4 days · From USD 420
The retreat takes place at Sun Sang Eco Retreats, a bamboo eco-lodge in a quiet part of Bali. The buildings are made from bamboo in designs inspired by animals, with open-sided rooms that keep you close to the surrounding garden. There's no air conditioning, which the owners say is intentional, to allow your body to adapt to the natural tropical environment.
Each morning begins with a Balinese Watukaru Yoga and meditation class. This traditional style is taught by instructors connected to an old ashram, and the practice is gentle and grounding. Afternoons typically include a cultural activity – you might learn to make a Balinese offering basket, join a cooking class, try a Tai Chi session, or visit a nearby waterfall.
One of the afternoons is dedicated to horseback riding through a Balinese village or along the beach. There's a weight limit of 90 kilograms for this activity, which they note is for the safety and welfare of the horses. Another afternoon includes a trip to the famous Tanah Lot temple to watch the sunset.
The staff at Sun Sang describe themselves as a family, and many guests mention the warm welcome they receive. The schedule has built-in free time each day, and the staff are happy to help arrange optional extras like a day trip to Ubud, a pottery class, or a session with a local healer.
