Home › Retreats › Wellness Escape: Yoga, Wild Swimming & Sauna in the New Forest
United Kingdom · 3 days · From USD 526
This retreat is run by two people who genuinely love what they do. Claire Whalley has been practising yoga for thirty years and has led retreats for the last decade, while Angus McChesney is a swim coach who'll guide you into the sea along the Hampshire coast, with views across to the Isle of Wight. They've designed the weekend to give you plenty of time to switch off, but with enough structure that you don't have to think about anything other than turning up.
The days are built around a simple rhythm: a quiet start, some movement, a swim, good food, and early nights if you want them. You won't be pushed into anything – the swimming is entirely optional, and there are gentler and more adventurous options depending on how you feel. Weather permitting, there may be a boat trip to the Isle of Wight for the more confident swimmers to go off the Needles, while others can explore coves and caves.
The setting is a big part of the experience. Tiptoe Lodge sits in the New Forest, a short drive from the sea and a stone's throw from Brockenhurst station, which has direct trains from London. It's a proper family home, passed down through Annabel's grandparents, with more character than polish. You'll eat in the kitchen, practice in the garden when it's warm, and have the run of the place. There's also the option of a group art class with Annabel, and a visiting massage therapist is available for treatments.
