Home › Retreats › Wellness & Fitness Retreat in Ubud, Bali: Yoga, Dance & Spa Week
Indonesia · 7 days · From EUR 950
A typical day here starts before the heat. Class begins around 7:00 on the shala, usually 60–90 minutes of vinyasa or hatha, sometimes replaced by a dance session (ecstatic dance or Balinese-style movement) depending on the week. Breakfast is at 8:30 — fruit platters, eggs, toast, black rice pudding, Balinese coffee and tea. From about 10:00 to 16:00 nothing is scheduled. Guests swim, read, walk through the paddy fields, take a shuttle into Ubud for the market or a café, or book one of the spa treatments included in the package. Late afternoon there's a second, gentler class — yin, restorative or breathwork — and dinner is served around 19:00 on the terrace, usually a mix of Balinese and Western dishes, mostly vegetarian with fish or chicken a few nights.
What separates this from the dozens of other Ubud yoga weeks is the balance between structured and free time, and the fact that the spa element is actually built into the price rather than sold as an extra. Most days you get a scheduled treatment — Balinese massage, flower bath, or a scrub — rather than having to chase it down and pay separately. That combination of daily movement plus daily bodywork is what most guests say they came for.
The teaching is done by the resident instructor team at the property, working in vinyasa, hatha and yin. Classes are mixed-level: complete beginners are shown modifications, and people with a regular practice are given options to go deeper. Group size is kept small enough that the teacher can walk around and adjust. Dance sessions are led separately and require no experience — they're about moving, not performing.
The property itself is a walled garden compound with a saltwater pool, an open-air yoga shala with wooden floors and fans, a dining terrace and a small spa building where the treatments happen. Rooms are Balinese-style — teak furniture, mosquito nets, outdoor-ish bathrooms with hot water in most categories. Wifi works in the common areas and in most rooms, though it drops out in heavy rain, which is fairly normal for Ubud.
The location is the practical reason people pick this over a beach retreat. Ubud sits in the hills about an hour and a half from the airport, cooler than the coast, surrounded by rice terraces and jungle. Mornings are misty, afternoons can rain for an hour, and evenings are cool enough to sleep without air conditioning. There's a lot within reach — the Campuhan Ridge walk, Tegenungan waterfall, Tirta Empul temple, the Ubud market — and the retreat can arrange drivers for day trips on your free afternoons.
