Wellness & Nature Escape: 6-Day Yoga, Rainforest Hikes & Catamaran Cruise in Costa Rica

Costa Rica · 6 days · From EUR 2699

The retreat runs for six days out of the Santa Lucía Hotel, a boutique property set in greenery in the Pacific region of Costa Rica. Everyone arrives on day one at San José International Airport (SJO), meets the group, and takes the transfer to the hotel, passing traditional Costa Rican scenery on the way. Welcome dinner is at the hotel's own restaurant that evening.

Mornings follow a rough pattern: optional wellness session first (the hotel has a dedicated yoga space), then breakfast, then the day's main activity. Day two is a hike on the Santa Lucía trails, through forest and over suspension bridges, with Pacific views and a decent chance of seeing native birds and wildlife. Day three is a guided rainforest walk with an expert naturalist — you cross two hanging bridges and he sets up a professional spotting scope so you can actually see the wildlife rather than just hear about it. He talks through the forest's layers and the specific plant-animal relationships that make the place so diverse.

Day four is unstructured. There's the usual morning wellness session and breakfast, then a coffee-tasting session to try Costa Rican beans, and then you're on your own — pool, a nearby trail, or an optional paid trip to Jaco Beach. Day five is the catamaran: an afternoon departure aboard a 50-foot private boat, cruising Los Sueños Bay to Playa Fantasia. Once there you get hammocks, beach chairs, calm water for swimming, and free use of paddleboards, boogie boards and snorkelling gear. Lunch is served on the beach with an open bar (craft cocktails, beer and non-alcoholic options), and there's beach volleyball if people want it. You sail back into the sunset.

Day six is a last wellness session and breakfast, some free time or a final walk around Santa Lucía, then the transfer back to SJO for flights home. The schedule leaves real gaps — day four entirely, plus afternoon leisure on days two and three — so it isn't a packed itinerary, and the wellness classes are described as optional rather than compulsory.

What separates this from a standard Costa Rica tour is the mix: it's not a bootcamp and it's not a sightseeing bus. The yoga happens in a proper dedicated space, the hikes are led by someone who actually knows the forest, and the catamaran day is private rather than a shared tourist boat. The group also eats most meals together at the hotel, which keeps the cost and the logistics simple.
