Mexico · 6 days · From USD 3537
Set on the shores of Bacalar in Quintana Roo, Mexico, this six-day wellness and yoga escape is built for anyone who wants to slow down and reconnect, whether you're travelling solo or coming with a partner or friend. The group is kept to a maximum of 20 people, so the property never feels crowded and there's always a free hammock by the water. Nothing here is mandatory, which makes it just as suitable for seasoned practitioners as for those who simply want space to rest.
The practice sits at the heart of the programme. Most days follow a relaxed rhythm built around twice-daily yoga and meditation classes and a daily pranayama practice, with specialty workshops woven in. You can take as much or as little from it as you need. An afternoon spent reading by the water or resting in a hammock is just as valid as joining a workshop, and there's a dedicated 'Day of Tranquility' with no scheduled activities at all should you want it.
You'll stay for five nights in boutique luxury accommodation on-site at Bacalar. Solo travellers have dedicated single-occupancy garden and lagoon rooms, while couples or friends travelling together can share a garden room with two queen beds or a lagoon room with a king and a single. The property is also home to the Akalki Temple and an on-site food garden, both of which you'll explore on a guided tour during the retreat.
A typical day is gentle and unhurried. Three nourishing meals are served — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — with water, tea, and coffee available throughout the day, and snacks between meals if you need them. Dining is communal, which is a big part of the experience; with such a small group, you'll get to know your fellow guests over shared meals, and the venue's restaurant can accommodate special requests. The retreat opens with a welcome ceremony and your first communal dinner, and closes with a final-night bonfire, live music, and a celebration dinner, followed by a closing circle on the last morning.
Getting there is taken care of at both ends. You're met at Chetumal International Airport (CTM) and taken by shuttle to the property on arrival, and after the closing circle on the final morning a shuttle takes you back to the airport. Included in the programme are your five nights' accommodation, three meals a day, all yoga, meditation and pranayama sessions, the specialty workshops and 'Day of Tranquility', opening and closing ceremonies, the guided tour of the Akalki Temple and food garden, and the final-night celebration. All taxes, exchange rate fees, and gratuities are covered too.
A few things sit outside the package, so it's worth planning ahead. International and domestic flights, travel insurance (which is required), and any visa fees are not included, nor are spa treatments and wellness services. Optional extras such as the Temazcal sweat lodge ceremony, solar-powered sailboat excursions, and kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding rentals carry an additional charge, as do any off-site activities or food outside the programme. The whole experience is designed so you can shape it around what you need — taking part fully, or simply resting by the water.
