Wild Atlantic Wellness Retreat on Ireland's Skellig Coast

Ireland · 7 days · From USD 1450

The retreat sits on a farm that the O'Shea family has worked since at least 1766, on the coast of the Iveragh Peninsula in the Kerry Gaeltacht. Skellig Michael is visible from the land on a good day, and the Atlantic is right there below the fields — you can sit on the rocks and watch the tide move in and out. The retreat building is purpose-built for guests, not converted from something else, and the whole setup is run around the farm and the coastline rather than around a resort schedule.

A typical day starts with movement — usually yoga or a mobility session in the retreat space, sometimes outdoors when the weather allows — followed by breakfast. Mornings are the structured part. After that, the day is yours: guided walks on the farm trails, a swim off the rocks, a sauna, or a drive to one of the nearby villages for lunch. There are excursions depending on conditions, including boat trips toward Skellig Michael when the sea is calm, and longer coastal walks along the Kerry cliffs. Evenings come back together for dinner.

What separates this from a standard wellness hotel break is that the land is genuinely working farmland and the family is still on it. You're not on a manicured estate — you're on 200 acres of active farm overlooking the Atlantic, and the day-to-day rhythm follows that. Weather is a real factor here and the schedule is built to flex around it, which is unusual for a fixed retreat programme.

The lead instructors and guides are drawn from the local area and from the family running the farm; sessions are small and hands-on rather than lecture-style. Most guests arrive from within Ireland or the UK, though the setup works for anyone willing to get to Kerry.

This is not a bootcamp or a results-driven fitness week. The movement sessions are there, they're consistent, and they're good — but they sit inside a week that's mostly about being outside on a wild coastline and eating well with other people.
