Home › Retreats › Wilderness Wellness Escape in the Great Bear Rainforest, British Columbia
British Columbia · 7 days
Nimmo Bay has been run by the same family for nearly 45 years. It holds nine cabins, each with two bedrooms, one bathroom and a private patio. Six face the water; three sit in the forest near the waterfall. Layouts vary so families, couples and groups of different sizes can be housed properly rather than squeezed into a standard room.
Included in every stay are daily yoga classes and daily fitness classes, plus a set of guided activities: kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkelling, hiking and picnics in wild locations. The floating saunas and hot tubs are on site and open to guests. A spa menu runs alongside this, with facials, massages and scrubs available as add-ons.
Food is a central part of the stay, not a side note. The kitchen cooks with locally caught seafood, foraged plants and pasture-raised BC meats, and all meals and beverages are part of The Inclusive Package. You eat what the coast and forest provide.
What separates Nimmo Bay from a standard wilderness lodge is the range of add-ons and the access behind them. The resort reaches over 50,000 square miles of terrain. You can book a full-day Coastal Safari by boat through the ocean and rivers of British Columbia, a customised helicopter trip into the rainforest, a culinary enhancement built around local ingredients, a Kids in the Wild programme for children of any age, or a 3- or 4-day wellness enhancement. The concierge team builds the week around your group rather than handing you a set menu.
Getting there is part of the trip. Nimmo Bay is remote, and arrivals are by air or water rather than road. The resort is a base for the coast, the rivers and the forest around it, and the schedule flexes with weather and with what your group asks for.
