Winter Detox Reset: Yoga, Massage & Cold Water Therapy in the Swiss Alps

The retreat is hosted at the Mad Retreat Hotel in Haute-Nendaz, a village in the 4 Vallées ski area of southwest Switzerland. The region is best known as the country's biggest ski resort, and in winter the mountains around the hotel are white and quiet. The hotel itself sits on a large property with a main chalet and several smaller 'Mazot' chalets scattered around the grounds, each with its own terrace and views across the valley.

The weekend starts on Friday evening with a welcome circle and a first breathwork session, then a vegetarian gourmet dinner. Saturday is the core day. It begins with a cold water therapy workshop, where you learn about the benefits of the practice before trying it yourself — a bracing way to start the morning. After breakfast you get a full-body massage, then a light lunch, then a detoxifying yoga class. The evening ends with a Yoga Nidra session designed to give you a deep, restorative sleep. Sunday keeps things simple: one final class, a last breakfast, and a personal farewell.

The host is Nina, a Belgian yoga teacher now based permanently in the Swiss mountains. She's certified in Hatha Yoga (200 hours with Arhanta Yoga) and advanced training (300 hours with Trimurti Yoga), with additional training in Aerial Yoga, self-myofascial release, and Ayurvedic coaching. Her classes blend dynamic flows with yin and connective tissue work, and she tailors them to the group on the day. She co-manages the Mad Retreat Hotel with July Desmet.
