Andalusia · 7 days
A typical day begins early on the beach with a sunrise yoga class facing the Mediterranean. After breakfast the day usually turns to a cultural outing or a hands-on workshop: the Picasso Museum in the old quarter of Málaga, where the painter was born; a tile-painting class where you paint your own azulejo; or a jewellery-making session in a local artisan's studio. Pilates and meditation run as daily movement sessions alongside the yoga.
Two of the days are longer trips inland. One goes to Granada for the Alhambra, the Nasrid palace complex above the city. The other goes to Córdoba for the Mezquita, the great mosque-cathedral. Both are the big-ticket sights of the region, and you see them with the group rather than having to sort out tickets and transport yourself.
The food and drink side gets real attention. There's a tasting of Andalusian wines and artisan cheeses, and one evening is a Michelin-starred dinner at one of Málaga's top restaurants. The September edition falls during the vendimia, the grape harvest, which gives the wine tasting a seasonal angle.
What separates this from a standard yoga week is the mix. You get daily yoga and Pilates, but also a hammam ritual, a flamenco class if you want it, craft workshops and two UNESCO-level day trips. It's closer to a well-organised culture trip with daily movement than a hide-away-and-stretch retreat. The daily two hours of unscheduled time keeps it from becoming a rush.
Every evening closes with a women's gratitude circle, a short group ritual of reflection and sharing. It's what gives the week its group feel, and the reason it's run as women-only.
The retreat runs four times a year in set weeks, and there's also a private option where you choose your own dates and length and tell the team what you like, and they plan the trip around you.
