Women's Yoga, Horse Wisdom & Somatic Retreat in the Colorado Rockies

Colorado · 5 days · From EUR 2745

The Copper Lodge sits at almost 9,000 feet in the Colorado Rockies, and the altitude is the first thing you notice — the air is thin and sharp, and it slows you down without you trying. The retreat uses that: most days begin at 7:30 with breathwork, yoga and mindfulness, before breakfast at 8:15. The yoga is gentle enough for all levels, but the setting does half the work.

At 9am you head out for equine-assisted activities. This isn't a riding lesson. You're working on the ground with the horses — grooming, leading, standing nearby — and paying attention to what happens in your own body while you do it. The facilitators pair this with somatic work, so the horse sessions often connect to whatever came up in the morning's breathwork. Sessions last into late morning, then lunch is served at 1pm.

Afternoons are deliberately open. From 2pm there's optional reflection time or you can book extra activities, walk the property, or nap. A second yoga class runs at 4:30, dinner is at 6, and most evenings close with a ceremony at 7:30 — sometimes journaling, sometimes group sharing, sometimes just silence by the fire. The structure is consistent, which means you don't spend energy deciding what's next.

What separates this from a standard yoga retreat is the horse work and the women-only group. Rosalind Tyburski leads the retreat; she's based in the USA and runs the programme herself. The group is capped small enough that the facilitators know everyone's name by day two, and the equine sessions are done in pairs or individually rather than as a big group demonstration.

You stay in one of the lodge's casitas — private cabins with a kitchen, a living area and a shared bathroom. Kitchens are stocked with basics so you can make tea or a light snack outside meal times. The property is quiet and the night sky is genuinely dark, which sounds like a small thing until you're standing outside at 10pm.

The retreat runs Thursday to Monday, so it fits around a work week if you only take a couple of days off. Cancellation terms are set by the leader and confirmed before you pay; a USD 500 deposit reserves your spot. Final pricing depends on which room you pick.
