Home › Retreats › Yin-Yang Breathwork & Vinyasa Yoga Retreat in the Mountains of Qingcheng, China
China · 7 days · From EUR 2500
The retreat runs September 12–18, 2025, in the Qingcheng Mountains, Sichuan province — the birthplace of Taoism, about an hour and a half by taxi from Chengdu. Accommodation is at a private venue the operator calls 'our selected, exclusive secret venue in Qingcheng mountains', with forest and mountain views. Rooms are private single or shared double/twin, all en-suite. There's a forest hydrotherapy pool with herbs, a yoga shala, a meditation area, a hot tub, a fireplace, a garden and a patio or balcony.
The daily rhythm: 8:00 AM crystal awakening meditation, 8:30 breakfast, then a two-hour morning session (qigong, breathwork, TCM-based practices). Lunch is at noon, followed by free time. Afternoons bring a workshop — somatic practices, nervous system self-regulation, journaling or nutrition — then a 90-minute vinyasa class at 4:00 PM. Dinner is at 6:00 PM, followed by a cultural talk on Chinese wellbeing habits and a sound healing session with singing bowls or group sharing.
Day 3 and Day 5 break the pattern with excursions. Day 3 is a visit to a Taoist temple (not included in the price, quoted separately); Day 5 is a tour to the Front Mountain Peak. Day 6 transfers the group to Chengdu for a city tour, spa time, souvenir shopping and a farewell dinner downtown, with an overnight at a city hotel. Day 7 is a closing ceremony at 8:00 AM, breakfast and check-out at 11:00 AM.
What sets this apart from a standard yoga retreat is the TCM framing and the location itself — Qingcheng Mountain is where Taoism originated, and the programme leans into that with cultural talks, tea ceremony and a temple visit. The venue is also private and not named on the listing, which the operator frames as part of the exclusive feel. The yoga is vinyasa only — two classes across the week — so this isn't a retreat for someone wanting two sessions a day on the mat. The bulk of the practice is breathwork, qigong and meditation.
The listing provider is Luxury Retreat Italy, a boutique network that connects retreat leaders with venues in Italy — this particular retreat is one they're promoting in China. The instructor isn't named on the page, so if you want to know who's teaching, ask before booking. The group size isn't stated either. Meals are traditional, cooked with organic ingredients; allergies can be flagged in advance. Flights, insurance, spa treatments, alcohol, the temple visit and the mountain hike are all extra. A China visa is generally not required for most European passport holders through the end of 2025, but you should check your own country's rules.
