Yoga and Castle-Hopping Week in the Eagle Mountains, Czech Republic

Yoga and Castle-Hopping Week in the Eagle Mountains, Czech Republic

Czech Republic · 5 days · From EUR 530

Days here follow a simple rhythm. Yoga at 8am, breakfast at 9.30am, then free time until a walk or trip at 11.30am. Late afternoon there's an evening stroll, meditation and gentle stretch at 5.30pm, dinner at 7.30pm, and on the second night, bowling. The yoga itself is gentle and mindful rather than athletic — Eva works with breathwork, meditation and slow movement, and the classes suit all abilities, beginners included. Some sessions happen in the hotel, others outside in the surrounding nature.

The trips are what set this week apart. Destne itself is free to explore: local mountain architecture, a small shop, a church, a ceramic workshop, and a pub stop for lunch, with the Polish border a short walk away and the option of taking a chair gondola across into Poland. For £10 there's a trip to Nove Mesto nad Metuji, a market town with a fairytale castle and gardens, 30 minutes away, paired with Novy Hradek — where Eva's family cottage sits, along with an old castle ruin in the forest and a watch tower. Another £10 trip covers Dobruska, Eva's home town, with its central square, watch tower, shops and cafes, plus Opocno and its castle and castle park.

Eva is Czech and lives locally enough to drive guests around herself. She recommends what to see and puts together a full itinerary for anyone who wants to follow it, but nothing is compulsory — you can skip a trip and stay by the pool or in the wellness centre instead. The hotel's own facilities (pool, sauna, wellness centre, bowling) fill the gaps between scheduled activities.

The setting is the Eagle Mountains (Orlicke hory) in the east corner of Bohemia, near the Polish border and about 2.5 hours from Prague Airport. It's a quiet, forested, rural part of the country — the hotel sits on the outskirts of the village in a private area surrounded by nature, which is why so much of the programme happens outdoors on foot.

The week is small and informal rather than a big production. Eva is one host-instructor, not a team, and guests travel with her in a hired car or people carrier. Most people fly into Prague, and Eva recommends adding a night or two there before or after the retreat — Prague 1, near Old Town Square and Charles Bridge, puts you within walking distance of the main sights. The retreat itself runs Monday 12 April to Friday 16 April 2027.
