A yoga week at Reppert is not a bootcamp. Sessions are short, small and quiet, and the rest of the day is yours: the spa, the Black Forest trails, the food. Groups are capped at five people so that silence actually holds, and the teachers adjust postures to whoever is in the room.
Yang/Hatha classes use flowing movement to build flexibility and strength without overexerting you. Yin classes hold calm, passive postures for several minutes at a time, with no effort and no ambition, to stretch the fasciae and settle the nervous system. Christine Reppert teaches Yin with an emphasis on individuality rather than alignment — every body is different, and the guidance follows what each person needs. Meditation sessions combine guided breathing with clear prompts, and are often paired with mindful walks: walking, sitting, breathing, unwinding.
Claudia Meller-Lies brings more than 30 years of teaching to the Yang and general yoga sessions. She trained in relaxation techniques, yoga for all ages, yoga 50+ and 65+, hormone yoga according to Dinah Rodrigues, yoga and relaxation for children, and several forms of meditation including silent meditation and movement-based meditations. She has worked mainly in Hinterzarten since 2015.
Christine Reppert lived and studied abroad for years before returning to Reppert in 2012, where she now handles marketing, communications, administration and reception. She has practised meditation since 2023 and Yin yoga since late 2023, and is currently training in Yin therapy with Markus Henning Giess. Her classes are gentle, clearly explained and free of pressure to perform.
The setting does a lot of the work. Hinterzarten sits at around 900 metres in the Hochschwarzwald, surrounded by fir trees and crisp air, with sweeping views over the hills. In summer, sessions move outside when the weather allows. The hotel also runs private yoga sessions and yoga weeks tailored to individual goals, and the weekly programme dates are published in the Reppert app.
