Home › Retreats › Yoga and Pilates Retreats at a Five-Star Hotel Above Aegiali Bay, Amorgos
Amorgos · 7 days
Days here follow whatever timetable the retreat leader sets. The hotel provides the spaces and the kit: Namaste Shala at 280 square metres holds up to 80 people, Shanti Shala takes 35 to 40, Anatolia 17 to 22, Elysia 18 to 20, Ananda 8 to 12, and Rashmi is a geodesic dome that fits up to 25 mats. The Anja and Anahata rooftops each take 25 mats and are used for sunrise and sunset sessions, and the main hotel rooftop is available for a class with the bay below you.
Pilates groups get their own equipment rather than borrowed mats: 20 Reformers, five of them with Towers, plus a Cadillac, a Barrel, a Chair, rings, balls, anti-grip socks and elastic bands. Yoga props include mats, bolsters, blankets, straps, blocks, eye pillows, slings, aerial hammocks, small fitness balls, Tibetan chimes, singing bowls, candles and incense.
Food comes out of the Ambrosia Gallery Restaurant, which serves a breakfast buffet each morning plus lunch and dinner menus. The kitchen uses vegetables and spices grown on the island, and there are vegetarian and vegan choices; other dietary needs are arranged in advance. A second restaurant and bar sit by the outdoor salt-water pool.
Between sessions the hotel can organise guided hikes, visits to the island's cultural monuments, Greek cooking and dancing lessons, wine tasting, boat tours and the tender boat experience, with water sports for anyone who wants more. The Lalon Idor Spa has a sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and an indoor salt-water pool with a water cannon and a flowing stream, all free for guests to use, alongside paid massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and a hair salon. There is also a gym next to the spa, free to use.
What separates this from other Greek venues courting yoga groups is the amount of dedicated practice space and equipment in one place, and the fact that the property was designed and built by yoga teachers. Groups have been coming since 2011, and the hotel will list your retreat on its own website and post about it on its social channels.
