Yoga and Rest at PRANA: A Boutique Retreat in the Lot Valley, France

France · 7 days

The daily shape of a stay at PRANA is set by the yoga and meditation sessions in the shala. The rest of the day is yours. You can swim in the south-facing pool, sit in the infrared sauna or the wood-fired hot tub, read in the lounge, or walk the meditative paths across the fourteen hectares of grounds, which are planted with oak trees and visited by wildlife.

Food is cooked at the retreat and described as refined, global and seasonal, rooted in local produce and inspired by Ayurveda. Dishes on the menu include a Middle Eastern mezze platter with spiced flatbreads, hummus, labneh with pomegranate and a tomato and feta salad; ratatouille with courgette, aubergine, peppers and basil; Vietnamese spring rolls with shrimp and herbs; herb-roasted vegetables with rosemary; and pear and chocolate cake. Meals are served in the rustic dining room or outside.

Beyond the yoga, PRANA arranges therapies and sessions on site: massage, sound healing, holotropic breathwork, past life regression and yoga nidra. Each is booked individually and described as tailored to the person, so you choose what you want rather than following a fixed programme.

Outings go in four directions. Medieval wonders means clifftop villages and historic sites, including Rocamadour and St-Cirq Lapopie. Nature adventures covers walking, canoeing, stargazing and time outdoors. Living cultures means local markets, seasonal festivals and medieval streets. Soul explorations covers vineyard tours, cycling routes, farm-to-table visits and artisan workshops.

The founders' background is what shapes the place. Dimitri and Nishtha met in the United States — one from international projects, the other from medical research — became yoga teachers in 2017, then travelled and taught at wellness retreat centres across different countries. They planted the idea for PRANA in 2019 and opened it in 2025. The retreat also runs as a venue for other retreat leaders, with the practical side handled in advance.
