Galapagos Islands · 8 days
The trip runs for seven nights and eight days, based on Santa Cruz Island. Each day combines yoga with a different excursion. You will visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, take a boat to Bartolome Island, and spend a day on North Seymour Island. There is also a highlands tour that takes in pit craters, lava tunnels and a cloud forest. In between, you kayak on Tortuga Bay, snorkel, swim, and watch wildlife. The pace is active but not rushed; the yoga classes are there to balance the days out.
What sets this apart from a standard Galapagos cruise is the combination of yoga and a small private group. You are not on a large ship with hundreds of passengers. Instead, you are with a handful of people, which makes the wildlife encounters feel more personal. The accommodation is nature-inspired and on Santa Cruz, so you are based on land rather than moving between islands each night. That means less packing and more time in one place.
The instructor for the February 2027 departures is Cara Chang Mutert. She leads the yoga sessions. The retreat is run in partnership with Last Space. Cara's background is not detailed on the page, but she is the named teacher for these dates.
The Galapagos themselves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, about 1,000 km off the coast of South America. The islands are known for their high levels of endemism: about 80% of land birds, 97% of reptiles and land mammals, and more than 30% of plants are found nowhere else. In the water, more than 20% of marine species are unique to the area. You will see giant tortoises, marine iguanas, flightless cormorants and Galapagos penguins. The wildlife is unusually approachable, which makes snorkelling and walking among them a different experience from most places.
