Yoga, Mantra & Nature Wellness Retreat on India's Sacred Coast

India · 8 days · From USD 732

The structure is simple: yoga and pranayama first thing, a proper breakfast, then beach time or pool time until lunch. Afternoons rotate between group activities — a temple visit, a coastal trek, a boat ride, a workshop — and free time for massages or rest. Evenings wind down with mantra meditation or kirtan, then dinner and sleep.

What sets this retreat apart from a generic yoga holiday is the emphasis on participation rather than observation. You're not touring temples as a sightseer; you're walking the same paths local pilgrims walk, sometimes joining rituals like agni hotras (fire ceremonies) when the opportunity arises. Anurati and Nitai have lived here long enough to know where to go and whom to ask.

Anurati started studying Vedic astrology and yoga as a teenager, came to India at sixteen, and has spent nearly a decade moving between ashrams and philosophical lineages. She now studies traditional Vedic philosophy in the north but returns to teach retreats with what reviewers call 'precision, warmth, and lived experience'. Nitai arrived in India over twelve years ago, drawn by eastern spirituality and mysticism. He learned mantras and kirtan from practitioners across the country and now lives at his guru's ashram in Vrindavan.

Gokarna sits on the Arabian Sea coast of Karnataka, a few hours south of Goa. The beaches are quieter, the cliffs are green, and the town's rhythm is set by temple bells rather than tourist bars. Trekking routes and small caves sit just outside the town limits. The retreat property keeps to that same simplicity: clean rooms, a pool, Ayurveda treatments on site, and sattvic vegetarian meals served nearby.
