Aum Yoga Center sits inside TUI BLUE Angkor Grace on Sihamoni Street in Sangkat Svay Dangkum, Siem Reap. The studio is small and runs a daily class timetable alongside retreats, workshops and a 200-hour teacher training. It's an unusual setup: you're practising yoga in a working studio rather than a purpose-built retreat campus, but staying in a five-star resort next door, which means you get both a real local yoga scene and hotel-grade comfort.
Classes cover Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Aerial Yoga and Crystal Bowl Sound Healing. Hatha sessions focus on postures and breath control; Vinyasa flows pose to pose on the breath; Yin holds poses for several minutes to work connective tissue and joints; Aerial uses a fabric hammock for supported poses and inversions. Sound healing is treated as its own thing here, not just a five-minute savasana add-on — the studio has a large collection of crystal singing bowls, and there's a full sound session on the Saturday schedule plus a monthly community Kirtan.
Shiva is the lead teacher. Reviews repeatedly mention his English, his chanting during class, the breath techniques he teaches in Hatha, and how he eases students into a meditative state. Other teachers form a small team and rotate through the timetable, so you'll likely practise with more than one person over a week. Classes are open to drop-ins as well as retreat guests, which keeps the room mixed rather than a closed group.
The proximity to the temples is the other half of the point. Angkor Wat is 4.8 km away, Ta Prohm and the other temple ruins are nearby, the Angkor National Museum is 1 km from the resort, and Siem Reap International Airport is 47 km out. Retreat programmes often build in excursions to sites like Ta Prohm, where the trees have grown through the ruins.
This suits someone who wants a yoga holiday with real sightseeing attached rather than a sealed-off retreat. You can do a morning Vinyasa class, spend the middle of the day at the temples, come back for Yin or a sound session, and eat and sleep at a five-star resort in between. If you want a silent, off-grid detox week, this isn't that — it's a city-adjacent studio with a luxury hotel attached and a lot going on around it.
