Yoga & Wellness Retreat Venue in the Belgian Ardennes Forest

Yoga & Wellness Retreat Venue in the Belgian Ardennes Forest

Ardennes · 7 days

The house sleeps ten across five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and toilet — unusual for a rental this size, and the thing guests mention most. The living room is 100 m² with big windows looking over the valley and forest, and an open fireplace that gets used in winter. The kitchen is open-plan and, according to one guest who cooks, equipped with pots and pans in every size and everything you'd need to feed a group. Upstairs there's a 60 m² multi-purpose room you can use for yoga or workshops, plus a playroom on the top floor.

The bedrooms sit in a separate wing behind a door, so the sleeping area stays quiet when the living space is in use. You can host sessions indoors in the multi-purpose room or the living room, or take them outside onto the terrace, into the garden and meadow, or straight into the forest. The house is bright throughout and gets a lot of natural light, which matters if you're teaching indoors. Mats, cushions, blankets, candles and music are yours to bring; chairs, tables and armchairs around the house can double as props.

The setting is the main draw. The property sits inside a large private estate surrounded by unspoilt forest, with a panoramic view over the valley. There's no traffic and no passing tourists — one guest described the silence as deafening, in the good sense. Guests regularly report hares and deer in the grounds, and the estate is big enough that several families have said they never felt the need to leave it.

It is a self-catering rental, so there's no in-house chef and no fixed programme: you plan and run your own retreat. Host Thierry is on hand for the welcome, local advice and anything that comes up, and guests consistently mention how easy he is to reach. One yoga teacher who ran a women's weekend here said she was already planning her next one before she left.

For off-site days, Dinant is under half an hour away with its citadel and an adventure park, and there are caves, castles and good hiking within a short drive. Kayaking on the River Lesse is popular when water levels allow. Closer to the house, the Promenade de la Famenne follows the Lesse past the Chaleux rock formations and Walzin Castle, and the Furfooz Natural Park trail passes caves, Roman ruins and old thermal baths.
