Yoga & Whitewater Adventure Retreat on the Nahatlatch River, BC

British Columbia · 4 days · From USD 724

REO Rafting & Yoga Resort has been running on the Nahatlatch River since 1983, when founder Bryan Fogelman first paddled the canyon and decided to stay. What started as a guy with a couple of rafts is now a family-run operation with staff from around the world, 17 glamping tents, and a loyal following of guests who keep coming back. The TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence has landed four years running, and it's been named one of Canada's top 40 adventure experiences.

Your days here aren't rigidly scheduled. Yoga runs twice a day on two purpose-built outdoor stages—one at the river's edge, one perched above the rapids—and you're free to pick the classes that suit you. The roster includes Hatha, Yin, Vinyasa, Power, Restorative, and Meditation, taught by instructors who cycle through from all over the world. The guided canyon hike is a highlight of the week, walking the gorge rim with a local guide who knows the geology and the wildlife.

Between sessions, you've got a mile of private river frontage to wander. There's a hammock garden, a relaxation deck, a hot tub, and a private beach where the river pools into calm swimming spots. If you want more action, the optional whitewater rafting trip is genuinely world-class—24 rapids on a glacier-fed river, with a perfect safety record over four decades. You can also add a 1-hour full-body massage, paddleboarding, or lake kayaking.

Meals are a proper event. The chefs put out four meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, plus social hour snacks) on the dining deck with the river directly below. Beef, chicken, and fish are standard, with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options every meal, and locally harvested salmon when it's in season. Dietary requests beyond that are handled with advance notice.

The owner, Bryan Fogelman, still runs the place and greets guests personally. It's the kind of retreat where you're a guest, not a client—staff remember your name, and return visitors are common.
