Home › Retreats › Zanzibar Bootcamp Getaway: 4-Day All-Inclusive Fitness Escape
Tanzania · 4 days
The structure is built around two training sessions per day over four days, three nights. In practice that means a morning session before the heat fully arrives and a second session later in the day, with the middle hours left open for eating, resting and getting in the water. The bootcamp format is the same one FKB uses in Nairobi: bodyweight and functional work, group circuits, cardio capacity work, and the kind of session that leaves you glad you booked a bed rather than a day pass. Running on sand, if the beach allows it, is a frequent feature of coastal bootcamps, and the humidity alone adds a level of difficulty you won't get at the Arboretum at 5:30pm.
Where this differs from a standard fitness retreat is that it's short and it's all-inclusive down to the flight. Most bootcamp holidays leave you to sort your own travel and only cover the camp itself. Here, accommodation, flight, food and training come as one package for four days and three nights — you pay once and turn up. It's also genuinely local to East Africa rather than an international import: the operator runs regular outdoor sessions in Nairobi and staged this on Zanzibar specifically for the Easter long weekend, which makes it accessible for a Kenyan or East African audience without long-haul flights.
Zanzibar itself does a lot of the work. The island is off the Tanzanian coast, known for white sand beaches, warm shallow water at low tide, and dhow boats out on the horizon. Between sessions there's swimming, beach walking and the option to explore a bit of local coastline. The listing shows the operator's wider set of destinations — Watamu, Kizimkazi and Matemwe on Zanzibar, Kilifi and Lake Elementaita and Gilgil in Kenya — which tells you they run this format repeatedly in different coastal and lakeside spots rather than as a one-off, so the camp logistics are tried and tested.
Training is led by the FKB Bootcamp team out of Nairobi, the same instructors who run the Monday-to-Friday 5:30–6:30pm and Saturday 10:00–11:30am sessions at the Arboretum in Kileleshwa. They're outdoor fitness specialists rather than gym-floor coaches, which matters here: sessions are designed to work without machines, in heat, on uneven ground. The Kenya contact number for the operation is +254 (0)725 357 117.
Price wasn't listed on the page, and the operator's own booking route is a web form — name, email, booking request — or direct contact. Dates for this specific Zanzibar edition were fixed to Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st April 2019 over Easter, with a later "Zanzibar Get Away 2018" and a July 2020 trial offer appearing in their news feed, so if you're looking at this now, treat the 2019 dates as historical and check what's currently scheduled before committing.
