10-Day Ayahuasca Wellness & Plant Medicine Retreat in the Amazon

10-Day Ayahuasca Wellness & Plant Medicine Retreat in the Amazon

Peru · 10 days · From EUR 2720

The retreat runs for 10 days, starting with a night at a hotel in Iquitos where you meet the other participants at 4pm. The next morning you take an air-conditioned bus for an hour to the village of Nina Rumi on the Nanay river, then a boat for another hour into the national reserve. You arrive at the Riosbo center, settle into your room, have lunch, and attend a meeting about the first ceremony that evening. The first ayahuasca ceremony takes place on Day 1. After that, the days settle into a rhythm: plant remedies in the morning, sometimes yoga, consultations with the curandero, vapor baths, workshops, and ceremonies on Days 3, 5, 7, and 9. On Day 10 you break the healing dieta with a proper breakfast, take final photos, and head back to Iquitos by boat at 2pm. You spend a final night at the hotel and fly out the next morning after breakfast and a USB handover with ceremony recordings and photos.

What separates this from other ayahuasca retreats is the structure around the ceremonies. You get five ceremonies with a Shipibo maestro, but you also get a daily plant medicine protocol that runs alongside them: Piñon Colorado three times a day, Sangre de Grado on Day 2, vapor baths with five medicinal plants from Day 3, Mucura sinus cleanses on Day 4, Chiric Sanango on Day 6, and plant baths from Day 7. Each of these is explained by the facilitators and administered with the curandero. You also have private consultations with the curandero (translated) on Day 2 and Day 9, where a personalised treatment plan is drawn up and adjusted as you go. If something else is needed, they add it — poultices, massage, extra medicines.

The center sits on the bank of the Nanay river inside the Allpahuayo-Mishana reserve, surrounded by over 100,000 acres of primary rainforest. You can swim in the river, hike into the jungle, and on Day 7 there is a guided walk specifically to learn about wild medicinal plants. The accommodation is on-site: 9 nights in private rooms with en suite bathrooms and electricity. The facilities are simple but functional, and the whole point is that you are not commuting anywhere — you sleep, eat, and do the work in the same place.

Yoga and meditation are built into the schedule on alternate mornings, and there are also cacao and breathwork ceremonies on Day 8, plus art, music, and Shipibo craft displays. The Shipibo healing tradition is the backbone, but the retreat is not strictly traditional in format: it blends plant medicine with meditation and yoga, and the assistants are there for counselling throughout. Meals follow a healing diet, typically fruit, vegetables, quinoa, lentils, grilled fish and eggs, with two meals a day at minimum.

The price is $2,950 USD and includes a pre-programme counseling session, a preparation and travel guide, airport pickup in Iquitos, two hotel nights, 9 nights at Riosbo, all transport, meals, translations, a USB of photos and ceremony recordings, and an integration counseling session after you get home. If you are travelling with someone and share a room, you each save $250.
