10 Days of Yoga, Sacred Sites, and Sea Breezes Across South India

10 Days of Yoga, Sacred Sites, and Sea Breezes Across South India

India · 10 days · From USD 1390

The retreat starts in Mysore, the birthplace of Ashtanga Yoga. The first few days are about grounding: morning practices in the shala, a visit to the famous palace and its illuminated evenings, wandering the colorful Devaraja Market, and getting a feel for a city where yoga isn't a class you attend but part of how people live. You'll ease into the rhythm here before moving on.

From Mysore, the journey shifts to Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage site scattered with boulder-strewn landscapes and the remnants of the Vijayanagara Empire. Days here are slower and more contemplative. You'll walk among the ruins — the Virupaksha Temple, the stone chariot, the riverside ghats — and practice yoga with a vast, ancient backdrop. The contrast from the city is stark, and it's where the inner work tends to deepen.

The final stop is Gokarna, a beach town on the Arabian Sea that's far quieter than Goa. This is the integration phase. Mornings are still practice, but afternoons are deliberately empty: swimming, walking the beach, watching sunsets. The retreat closes here with a final ceremony before breakfast on day ten, and you'll leave with a sense of having completed something.

Your host for the trip is Paula, a yoga teacher based in Ibiza who blends Vinyasa and Yin. She's joined by Sanatan, a local teacher from the ashram in Pushkar where the retreat's founders first met. The team keeps things intimate and hands-on — they handle logistics, transport, and the small details, so you can focus on the experience.

Accommodation shifts to match each destination: shared rooms in a hostel in Mysore and Gokarna, and a more comfortable hotel in Hampi. Shared rooms are the default, which keeps the community feeling strong; private rooms are available for a supplement if you need more space. Meals are vegetarian and cooked fresh from local ingredients, keeping things simple and suited to the practice.
