Indonesia · 11 days · From USD 949
Most 100-hour yoga teacher trainings stretch over three or four weeks, but Maa Shakti Yog has compressed the syllabus into 11 days without cutting corners. The days run from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with breaks for breakfast, lunch, and rest. The schedule is intense, but it keeps the learning immersive — you're living and breathing yoga the whole time, so the material sticks.
The lead teacher is Yogi Rajesh ji, an E-RYT 200 and RYT 500 who's been teaching for over a decade. He's an expert in hatha, vinyasa, ashtanga, pranayama, and shat-karma, and he's currently pursuing a PhD in yoga from Uttarakhand Sanskrit University. Jaggi, the other main teacher, grew up in a family of yoga practitioners in Haridwar, learned from his grandfather (a renowned yogi), and later studied yoga science at Gurukul Kangri University. He specializes in hatha yoga, yoga therapy, and marma therapy.
The syllabus follows the Yoga Alliance curriculum, covering asana (multi-style), pranayama, meditation, mantra chanting, anatomy, alignment, philosophy, and teaching methodology. You'll learn how to sequence your own classes, offer modifications, and understand contraindications — the practical skills you need to actually teach. There's also shatkarma (the six purification techniques), mudras, and bandhas thrown in, which you don't always get in Western-style trainings.
A few things make this course different from other Bali YTTs. The class size is capped at 15, so you're not lost in a crowd. The school's Indian roots show in the emphasis on pranayama, kriyas, yoga nidra, and mantras — the Eastern practices that sometimes get glossed over. And the location, while not in the heart of Ubud's Bustle, puts you close to rice fields and countryside, which keeps the focus on the practice.
Accommodation is in a Balinese-style hotel with a pool, set in a green garden. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable, with Balinese interior decoration. There's a 24-hour restaurant on site. The price includes all meals, the course materials, and the certification — just not flights, the airport transfer, or travel insurance.
