100-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Retreat Amidst Bali's Rice Terraces

Indonesia · 10 days · From USD 819

This isn't a fluffy wellness retreat — it's a proper teacher training with a full curriculum. Each day follows a steady rhythm: pranayama and meditation to open, a long asana practice to move, and then classroom time covering yoga philosophy, anatomy, and how to actually teach. The instructors are mostly Indian men who have trained in Rishikesh, and they bring a traditional, no-nonsense approach that's still warm and encouraging.

The location is a big part of why this works. Ubud is Bali's spiritual and cultural epicenter, and the school sits right in the middle of the green, rice-terrace countryside. You're close enough to town for cafés and markets, but far enough that the only noise at night is the frogs. The campus itself has open-sided practice spaces facing the gardens, a pool for cooling off between sessions, and a small vegetable farm that supplies some of the kitchen's produce.

A typical day starts before 7am and runs until early evening, with breaks for breakfast, lunch, and rest. Mornings are dedicated to breathwork, alignment, and Hatha techniques; afternoons bring philosophy, teaching methodology, and a Vinyasa flow; evenings close with Yoga Nidra or sound healing. Once a week there's a cultural excursion — a temple visit or a hike through the surrounding countryside — to break up the study.

What makes it different from a longer 200-hour program is the pace. Ten days is enough to get a real taste of the practice and teaching fundamentals without the intensity of a month-long immersion. You'll leave knowing the key asanas, how to sequence a basic class, and with a clear idea of whether you want to go on to the full certification. The certificate you earn can be applied as credit toward a future 200-hour training at the same school.
