Costa Rica · 11 days · From USD 2156
The training runs for 11 days and 10 nights at Aves Hotel & Resort, a sprawling property built into the hills of Montezuma with sweeping views of the Pacific. Each morning starts with a hatha or vinyasa flow class; evenings bring restorative and yin yoga. In between, you'll dive into anatomy, alignment, and teaching methodology.
Leah, your lead teacher, is known for her focus on breath and anatomical integrity. Her classes are vigorous yet accessible, designed to challenge you physically while encouraging you to find your edge. She has a reputation for creating a supportive community—many past students have returned for further trainings, and the group often bonds over long breakfast conversations about yoga and life.
The course syllabus covers meditation, pranayama, mantra, Sanskrit, and the history and philosophy of yoga. You'll learn how to sequence intelligent classes, give hands-on assists, and adapt poses for students with injuries or limited mobility. There's also a session on the business of teaching yoga, helping you stand out in a crowded market.
What sets this training apart is the hybrid model. Depending on your dates, you'll complete either part of the online coursework before arriving or after you leave. The online portion is self-paced, accessed through a course portal, so you can study when it suits you. In person, you'll practice teaching with real feedback from Leah and your peers.
The retreat center itself is a highlight. It has two swimming pools, a sun deck, private jungle trails, an oceanview yoga shala, and a gym. You can walk to the beach in a few minutes or explore the nearby town of Montezuma, known for its waterfalls and surf breaks.
