United States · 11 days · From USD 2745
The Path of Life Healing Center's 10-night retreat is built around a supervised detox that has been refined over 28 years. Days start with juices and teas designed to stimulate your immune system and draw out wastes, followed by a stretching routine and a short digestive walk. Each day includes a personalized therapy session with a hygienist—treatment varies but often involves sauna, foot baths, hot compresses, red light therapy, or vibration therapy—always followed by recommended rest. Afternoons are for walks, optional outings, and a second juice. While you're here you'll also attend cooking classes, herb workshops, and group classes built around the 'Eight Lifestyle Pillars'—the hosts frame everything around biblical principles of health, which adds a spiritual dimension some guests find very meaningful, though you don't need to share that faith to attend.
The food and drink plan is strict. The first seven days are liquids only: water, herbal teas, healing juices, and occasional snacking juices. Days eight through ten reintroduce solid food, mostly raw and lightly cooked vegan meals. The emphasis is on organic ingredients, and the menu is designed to keep your digestive system working gently while you continue to detox. This is not a juice cleanse you could easily replicate at home—the supervision and daily therapies make it a genuinely medical-grade experience.
The venue, Bee Suite Retreats, is a rural home with a large porch, a creek within walking distance, and a two-person infrared sauna on site. The property is quiet, secure, and set on country roads that are good for walks. Westminster, the nearest town, is about forty minutes from Baltimore and offers small-town charm with local shops and restaurants, plus vineyards and parks nearby. On one of the weekend days the group takes a sightseeing excursion to local attractions like the Carroll County Farm Museum or Hashawha Environmental Center.
Dr. Kalu runs the program herself, with a small family-oriented team. She has been practicing as a classical naturopath for 28 years, and her approach is direct and practical. Guests repeatedly praise her ability to listen and tailor advice to each individual. The program clearly states what's included and what isn't—no yoga classes here, no free massages, no airport pickup—so you know exactly what you're paying for.
