Indonesia · 13 days · From EUR 1846
The training is based in Ubud, Bali, which is the cultural and spiritual centre of the island. You'll be in a quiet spot surrounded by rice fields and jungle, about a 10-minute drive from the main town where you'll find the Ubud Monkey Forest, the Ubud Art Market, and plenty of warungs and cafes. The venue has a dedicated yoga shala and spaces for sound work. Everything you need for the course is on site, so you can settle in and focus on the training without worrying about logistics.
A typical day starts at 7:00 with a 90-minute Yin practice, followed by breakfast. Then you'll have theory sessions on Taoist elements and meridian theory, and practical workshops on how to play singing bowls and structure a class. After lunch there's more hands-on practice: teaching each other, giving and receiving adjustments, and working with sound. Some evenings there are live sound healing sessions with guest musicians. The last few days are dedicated to your final teaching practicum and certification. You'll get one rest day mid-course to explore Ubud or just relax by the pool.
The lead instructor, Alexandra Denkinger, is a medical doctor and acupuncturist. She's been teaching Yin Yoga for over a decade and developed the Yin Yoga Therapy™ method, which combines her medical background with traditional Chinese medicine. She's known for making complex anatomy and meridian theory accessible, and for creating a supportive environment where you can ask questions and practice teaching without pressure. She runs trainings in Sri Lanka, India, and Bali.
What sets this training apart from other Yin courses is the sound healing component. You won't just learn about sound; you'll actually play singing bowls and learn how to use them in a class setting. The guest musicians who come in bring a range of instruments, so you get to experience different sound textures and see how they affect the nervous system. The course also includes a strong focus on the therapeutic application of Yin Yoga, so if you want to teach people with injuries or chronic tension, you'll have the tools. The small group size means you get personal feedback on your teaching.
