Home › Retreats › 14-Day Luxury Yoga and Wellness Escape in the Algarve, Portugal
Portugal · 14 days · From USD 3799
The retreat is based at Monte Sobradhino, a gated 3-acre estate high in the hills of Loulé, about 25 minutes from Faro airport. It has coastal views over the Algarve, sunlit indoor and outdoor yoga spaces, a saltwater infinity pool, and gardens with Bali beds for afternoon rests. All meals are taken together on the terrace, and the whole property is shared only by the retreat and training group, so it feels private and uncrowded.
The structure is what makes this different from a standard yoga holiday: it's a genuine immersion into a teacher training environment, led by founder Dr. Liz Lindh, who has run accredited trainings for over a decade and certified more than 1,200 students from nearly 50 countries. She brings a strong academic background—she's a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine—into the classes, which weave classical yoga philosophy with applied anatomy and modern somatic work. You're free to sit in on any of it, or none of it.
Food is a highlight in its own right. Gaia Gourmet serves three vegan and gluten-free meals a day, drawing on Ayurvedic principles and global cuisines. Menus have included meals like Chana Masala with Caribbean Coconut Rice, Pesto Primavera Lasagna, and Leek and White Bean Cassoulet with a vegan biscuit. Breakfast is a buffet with overnight oats, fresh fruit, multigrain bread, and the option of eggs and local cheeses.
The location gives you real variety for your free time. The estate is 15 minutes from the Loulé train station and close to a string of beach towns along the Algarve coast. Popular excursions on the Saturday day off include hiking the Seven Hanging Valleys coastal trail, exploring the Saturday market in Loulé, and visiting Ria Formosa National Park for beaches and dolphin-watching.
