Home › Retreats › 14-Day Yoga Teacher Training Retreat in Portugal's Algarve
Portugal · 14 days · From USD 2999
The training is built around an awareness-based vinyasa approach. That means classes link breath and movement, and the sequencing is designed to be accessible, creative, and kind to your body—with a strong emphasis on injury prevention and nervous system regulation, not just getting into fancy shapes. You'll study anatomy and physiology, yoga philosophy and history, breathwork (pranayama), meditation, and the subtler energetics like chakras and bandhas. There's also a real focus on learning to teach: you'll practice cueing, sequencing, offering hands-on assists, and giving feedback in a supportive setting. The teaching follows the lineage of Sri Krishnamacharya through his son T.K.V. Desicachar and teacher Shiva Rea, and the program is Yoga Alliance registered, so you'll be eligible for RYT 200 certification when you finish. Your cohort will include both 200-hour and 300-hour trainees, as well as students doing a longer 21-day in-person version, so you're part of a mixed, international group of up to 20 people. Meals are all plant-based, prepared by the Gaia Gourmet team, and follow yogic and Ayurvedic principles—think chana masala with coconut rice for lunch and miso soup with soba noodles for dinner. You'll also take part in rituals beyond asana: a cacao ceremony, mala making, chanting, and silent hours for self-study.
