Home › Retreats › 15-Day Himalayan Yoga Trek to Everest Base Camp
Kathmandu · 15 days · From USD 1725
The trek begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a 35-minute journey that ends on one of the world's most famous short runways. From there, you walk. The first few days are relatively gentle — crossing suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi river, passing through villages, and gaining altitude gradually as you head toward Namche Bazaar, the main trading town of the Khumbu region.
Namche is where you take your first acclimatisation day. There's time to explore the town, visit the Everest View Hotel viewpoint, and let your body adjust to the thinner air. The yoga sessions here focus on gentle stretching and breathwork — nothing that's going to tire you out, but enough to keep muscles loose after days of walking.
From Namche, the route continues through Tengboche (home to the region's most important monastery), Dingboche, and Lobuche, with another acclimatisation day at Dingboche. The terrain becomes more sparse and rocky as you climb higher. By the time you reach Gorakshep, the last settlement before Base Camp, you're in proper high-altitude territory — cold, dry, and with noticeably less oxygen.
The push to Everest Base Camp is across rocky moraine alongside the Khumbu Glacier. You won't see Everest's summit from Base Camp itself (it's hidden behind the Lho La ridge), but you'll see the icefall, the glacier, and the prayer flags marking the camp where climbing expeditions begin. The following morning's pre-dawn hike to Kala Patthar delivers the view everyone comes for: Everest's summit lit up by sunrise.
The return journey retraces your steps but moves faster — your body is acclimatised and the terrain is familiar. You'll be back in Lukla within three days, then flying to Kathmandu for a final night before heading home.
What makes this different from a standard EBC trek is the integration of yoga throughout. Evening sessions help with recovery and sleep at altitude. Morning breathwork on rest days aids acclimatisation. The guide, Jay, is trained both as a trekking guide and a physical trainer, so he understands how to pace the yoga to complement the hiking rather than compete with it.
