Home › Retreats › 15-Day Himalayan Yoga Trek to Everest Base Camp
Kathmandu · 15 days · From USD 1725
The trek begins with a day in Kathmandu to sort out gear and adjust to the time zone, then an early-morning flight to Lukla — a 35-minute trip that drops you straight into the mountains. From there, you walk. The first few days are relatively gentle, following the river valley through villages like Phakding and Monjo, crossing suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags, and climbing gradually toward Namche Bazaar, the main trading hub of the Khumbu region.
Namche is where things get serious. At 3,440 metres, it's your first acclimatization stop — a full rest day to let your body adjust before pushing higher. From here, the trail climbs through forests of blue pine, rhododendron, and birch toward Tengboche, home to the most important Sherpa monastery in the region. The views open up dramatically: Everest, Ama Dablam, and the Khumbu Icefall become constant companions.
The upper section of the trek takes you through Dingboche, Lobuche, and finally Gorak Shep — the last settlement before Base Camp. This is high-altitude desert: rocky, sparse, and cold. The air is thin enough that even simple tasks feel harder. But the payoff is the approach to Everest Base Camp itself, walking across the Khumbu Glacier to stand where climbing expeditions launch their summit attempts.
The yoga component is practical rather than performative. Morning sessions focus on warming up stiff muscles and clearing the mind for the day's walk. Evening sessions are about recovery — gentle stretches, breathing exercises, and meditation to help you sleep at altitude. Your guide Jay has completed training through the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management and knows both the physical demands of the trek and how to adapt yoga practice to high-altitude conditions.
The return journey retraces your steps but feels completely different — you're descending, the air is thicker, and you can actually appreciate the scenery you were too focused on to notice on the way up. The final night in Kathmandu gives you a chance to recover before flying home.
