15-Day Women's Yoga & Ayurveda Pilgrimage Through India

India · 15 days · From USD 3899

The pilgrimage begins in Kovalam, a seaside village in Kerala, at the Amara Ayurvedic Retreat. For five nights, you live in an earthen villa on a hillside overlooking the Western Ghats. Each day follows a similar rhythm: yoga and meditation at 7 am, a full Ayurvedic breakfast, then one to two hours of treatments that rotate through massages and other therapies prescribed during your initial consultation with the in-house doctor. Afternoons are free for the saltwater pool, a walk to the beach, or simply resting. The food here is Ayurvedic: low-fat, whole-grain, and remarkably fresh, all tailored to your body type.

From Kerala, you travel north to Varkala for two nights at Lumuma, an eco-yoga village where you sleep in traditional cottages built from natural materials according to Vaastu principles. The days here are simpler and quieter. There is a morning meditation walk to a temple, a cacao ceremony, a sound bath, and time to walk the cliff paths above the ocean. The intention is integration: to let the healing of Kerala really land. From Varkala, the pilgrimage changes gear as you fly to Varanasi.

Varanasi is the spiritual heart of India. You stay for two nights, taking a guided walk through the old city and down to the cremation ghats, and you join the evening Ganga Aarati, the fire ceremony on the river. On the second morning, you are up before dawn for a boat ride on the Ganges as the city wakes. From Varanasi, you fly to Rishikesh, the yoga capital, where you spend three nights. Your home base is a hotel, but the days are spent at Anand Prakash Ashram, joining their scheduled practices, taking a dip in the Ganges, and attending evening kirtan. After that, it is a flight to Delhi and a drive to Agra, where you stay one night at the Radisson. You wake early to see the Taj Mahal in the first light, then drive on to Vrindavan for the final stop: a town saturated with stories of Krishna and Radha. The pilgrimage ends back in Delhi after a closing ceremony.
